About the Artist
Cheryl is an artist, designer, and teacher who inspires her students to create beautiful pieces of their own.
For her day job, she is a high school art teacher for the State of Connecticut Technical High School System. During her “off” hours, she is a working artist and instructor. She teaches her skills through workshops at local art collectives, handcraft schools, and several local colleges. She lives in Portland, CT and is a key member of the Art cooperative: Wesleyan Potters. She shows her work in the galleries at Wesleyan Potters Craft School, Southington Arts Collective, Guilford Art Center, Glastonbury Art Guild, and Gallery 53.
Cheryl has earned a BS from Charter Oak State College majoring in Applied Art and a MS from St Joseph’s University majoring in Curriculum and Instruction. She holds a professional level 042 Art teaching license issued through the State of CT.
Her inspiration comes from nature. Growing up in Connecticut was special because she had access to the woods and the ocean. Playing outside as a child was always an adventure and it’s those exciting times that have spilled over into her creative adult life. She works in all mediums with a focus in jewelry, fiber, pottery, and painting.
She sells her art at local galleries and out of her Etsy shop.
